Are you seeking an internship in the behavioral healthcare field?

Horizon has internship opportunities for students enrolled in applicable 60 credit hour master's degree programs. Horizon Behavioral Health provides services to individuals with mental illness, developmental disabilities, substance use issues and/or co-occurring disorders in Lynchburg, VA and the surrounding counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford and Campbell. Opportunities for related master's degree internships exist in our Admissions, Emergency Services, and Outpatient Departments. 

Additional behavioral healthcare related opportunities for internships are available in Therapeutic Day Treatment Services and Case Management. 

We also offer opportunities for clinical/preceptor hours for Nurse Practitioners. 

Horizon currently has internships and/ or clinical hours agreements with the following universities:

  • Randolph College 
  • University of Lynchburg 
  • Longwood University 
  • Radford University 
  • University of Virginia 
  • Simmons College
  • Walden University

Horizon has one internship available for Summer 2021. The student must be a master's level student pursuing a degree in counseling, marriage & family therapy, or clinical social work. The focus of the internship will be working with children and adolescents and requires a commitment of a minimum of 10 hours per week. If you meet these criteria and are interested, please submit your completed volunteer application no later than Friday, April 16,2021.
