About the Horizon Powell Home (ICF)

Located in the heart of Lynchburg, Horizon Powell Home is named for Ida Powell - a dynamic woman and long-time supporter of Horizon's Intermediate Care Facilities and it's residence. It sits next to Horizon's Pearson Home in a welcoming neighborhood. Both homes were made open to new residents for the first time in fall of 2012. Each one is a 3300 square feet, one story home. Each home was constructed with four individual bedrooms and two bathrooms. The homes were designed to support individuals who use wheelchairs.

As one of seven ICFs located throughout Central Virginia, this home provides each resident an opportunity to be involved in active treatment to enhance their functional skills while creating an environment where they thrive in everyday life.

Each resident has an interdisciplinary care plan that is developed for their specific needs in order for them to fully thrive and immerse themselves in the community they live. The care one receives in the Intermediate Care Facility promotes health, self-worth, and family/ community involvement in the least restrictive setting.

Horizon's ICFs also support individuals with a variety of medical and behavioral needs. Care is provided by qualified staff, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Horizon has been providing these services to the communities around Central Virginia for more than 30 years.
